Welcome to Win it Wednesday!
Wednesday has been declared Win it Wednesday here at Stuff to Love. We will now have a giveaway every week. It will start on Wednesday and end the following Tuesday at midnight PST. The winner will be announced the following day. You never know what we might be offering up. There are lots of opportunities to enter, so check back often. Make sure to follow us on twitter, or be our fan on Facebook so you never miss a giveaway.
Three Cups, written by Mark St. Germain and illustrated by April Wiley, is a beautifully basic children’s book about a very simple money saving practice. Based on a true story about a father who taught his son how to responsibly save money by giving him three cups on his 5th birthday. Half parable, half economics lesson this book can help children as young as 4 grasp the simple saving lesson taught in it.
The illustrations in this book are beautiful. They are lifelike and warm. Even though its really an economics book, the illustrations make it very inviting. Your child won’t really know they’re learning a life lesson when you read it. They’ll just think they are listening to a great story.
The story is simple and well written. It is short, again, so even younger kids will be able to handle the whole savings lesson in one sitting. The last two pages have tips for parents on how to make the financial lesson in the book work. There is also a companion website at 3CupsBook.com.
I think this book would make a great gift, either from parents or grandparents. This book would be a great companion to starting to give your child an allowance. This year, I think my 8yr old daughter is going to get a copy in her Easter basket.
If you are looking for a way to introduce young children to handling money responsibly, this book is a great place to start. Pick up your own copy of Three Cups at Amazon.com today.

I heard it suggested that you give a child an allowance per week that is the same number as their age. I do this with my son (he’s 6, so he gets $6 a week) and it works well.

My kids get an allowance. It goes right into their savings accounts.
by dividing the money they receive in sections.
We started a savings account to have the little ones learn about how ( the little ) interest is added to your amount in the bank!

we always let the kids earn money by doing extra chores when my daughter was younger she swept the school bus for a dollar till she saved enough for her school ring
I would love to win this Thank You for this great giveaway fancyfeet45@earthlink.net
I hate to bash one of my friends, but knowing her, one way or another i am going to have to buy this book for her daughter. I already know she is going to be the responsible one in the family when it comes to the money!!!
Our daughter collects the spare change we get when we make purchases. She puts them in her cat piggy bank and when there is enough change to put in wrappers we do so. She knows that saving up money is a smart thing to do. And every little bit helps.

Teach your children at a young age how to earn money through an allowance and how to save and spend their money wisely. My parents did this and I have been debt free my entire life.
