Even though the HAPPYTOT Pouches have been recalled, I still love them just as much as before. The recall is actually rather simple. There is a design flaw in the pouches that can make them leaky. Living in Colorado, at altitude, I’m no stranger to leaky containers. (1 in 10 yogurts I buy is bad from broken seals…take sealed food to 6500 feet and it just happens lol) Just by habit, I was already not buying the sticky pouches. This seems like a proactive recall, to fix a packaging issue before a problem develops.
HAPPYTOT pouches make mealtime easy! They really are a complete healthy meal in a pouch. There are six varieties: Banana, Peach, Prunes & Coconut; Sweet Potato, Carrot & Apple; Green Beans, Peas & Pear; Banana, Mango & Peach; Spinach, Mango & Pear; Apple & Butternut Squash. The only one my son didn’t devour was the Green Bean, Peas & Pear flavor…he still ate it, just not as fast as the other flavors. His favorite flavors are the the Banana, Peach, Prunes & Coconut and Banana, Mango & Peach.
The pouches are BPA-free and recyclable. They are so easy to just toss in a diaper bag, and have a easy, healthy snack or meal on the go. My son is a big eater, so he has no problem sucking down the whole pouch. I love them for breakfast, as there are usually a million things to do to get out of the house on time…this way, I know the boy is getting a decent meal that he can feed himself with minimal supervision and he doesn’t get super messy. A word of warning: there is no valve in the spout, so everything comes out if they are turned upside down…so have a spotter at the highchair! hee
Nutritionally, these pouches are nearly perfect. Not only are they a great mix of fruits and vegetables, they also contain salba. Salba is a perfect whole grain. It is gluten-free, and according to the Salba website, “provides eight times more Omega 3s than salmon, four times more fiber than flax, six times more calcium than whole milk, and 30 percent more antioxidants than blueberries.” A great source of energy for your active toddler!
HAPPYTOT is committed to fixing the pouch seal problem and putting these back on the market. Once they do, be sure to pick these up if you are looking for great on-the-go health food for your little one. They are the perfect pouch!
