Here are some recent recalls of note:
- Graco Strollers – This Graco stroller recall is the largest in US history. Models include about 1.5 million Graco’s Passage™, Alano™ and Spree™ Strollers and Travel Systems. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the hinges on the stroller’s canopy pose a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is opening or closing the canopy. YIKES! Find out if your model is affected and steps to take in order to obtain a free repair kit here.
- HAPPYTOT baby food pouches – In a voluntary recall, Nurture, Inc has recalled all HAPPYTOT baby food pouches to fix a manufacturing defect, that can cause the pouches to leak. Because the leakage mean air in the product, there is also the potential for bacterial contamination. Nurture, Inc states that less than 1% of product was actually affected. If you currently have pouches, return them for a full refund. More information can be found on their press release.
- Dorel Cribs – This is a pretty big crib recall. The affected models of Dorel cribs could be purchased at K-Mart, Sears and Wal-Mart stores nationwide from January 2005 through December 2009. Check your crib. Its not just cheapo cribs either, there are some high end models included in this recall as well. There are model numbers and pictures listed on the CPSC website.
- Counterfit Alli – Really, If you are taking Alli, stop…its not the right way to lose weight…but if you need a reason to throw it out, how about this: The FDA put out a warning last week that there is counterfeit Alli being sold over the internet. Instead of Alli, it is a potentially harmful prescription appetite suppressant drug. The counterfeit packages are thankfully obvious, once you know what to look for. The FDA’s website has a handy guide to spot the counterfeit packages.
